| Description |
English: Friesian herd Dairy herd squeezed into the corner of the square - some cattle will be beyond the gridlines. They are being strip grazed, an electric fence is advanced little by little, allowing access to just some of the pasture. This prevents loss of grass through trampling, and prevents overeating leading to bloat - gut bacteria thriving on the grass producing more methane than the cow can void. (NB cattle are polite, they get rid of much of the vast quantities of intestinal gas gently through the mouth) |
