Die Duitse skool het as 'n gemeenteskool ontstaan. Daarom kan dit nog as 'n private skool bedryf word, met 'n spesiale ooreenkoms tussen skool en kerk, naamlik die Johannesgemeente. Die kerk is ook direk by die direksie en sekere skoolvakke betrokke.
Ter ere van die stigter van die Duitse Evangeliese Gemeenteskool te Pretoria, Friedrich Klinkenberg, geb. op 9 Maart 1818 te Groeningen in Pruise, oorlede op 22 Oktober 1897 te Carlsruhe distrik, Pretoria.
Mooi so, goeie en getroue dienskneg, oor weinig was jy getrou, oor veel sal ek jou aanstel. Gaan in in die vreugde van jou heer. Matt. 25 v. 23
Deutsch: Friedrich-Klinkenberg-Denkmal an der Deutschen Schule Pretoria
Die Deutsche Schule entstand als Pfarrschule. Daher kann es mit einer besonderen Vereinbarung zwischen Schule und Kirche, nämlich der Johanneskirche, weiterhin als Privatschule betrieben werden. Die Kirche ist auch direkt mit dem Vorstand und bestimmten Schulfächern befasst.
Zum ehrenvollen Andenken dem Stifter der deutschen evang. Gemeindeschule zu Pretoria, Friedrich Klinkenberg, geb. am 9 Maerz 1818 zu Groeningen in Preussen, gest. am 22 October zu Carlsruhe dist. Pretoria, 1897.

English: Friedrich Klinkenberg monument at Deutsche Schule Pretoria
The German school originated as a parish school. Therefore, it can still be run as a private school, and a special arrangement exists between school and church, namely the Johanneskirche. The church is also directly involved with the board and certain school subjects.
In honor of the founder of the German Evangelical Community School Pretoria, Friedrich Klinkenberg, born on 9 March 1818 at Groeningen in Prussia, died on 22 October 1897 in Carlsruhe district, Pretoria.
