Description	English: Earliest known picture of Friedrich Engels, printed from a daguerreotype that was owned by his family at the time of its first publication (1920). Current place is unknown. Actual date of the daguerreotype is unknown, its first publication gave no date, and from his looking it's obvious its from his mid-20s, so speculated roughly being from 1845. It's either dated as 1842, 1845, or mid-1840s, without any supporting evidence (mention in his letters etc.). Only information is from Gustav Mayer's foreword (August 1919): "Das dem Werk vorgedruckte Porträt des jungen Engels ist ein Daguerreotyp im Besitz der Familie." ("The portrait of the young Engels pre-printed [frontispiece] in the work is a daguerreotype owned by the family.") Please upload further changes as a new file.
