When I began to use DIE INSEL in Berlin-Neukölln 2006 (www.okkupation.com) as my private public breakfast place floating 3 m above the ground, I had no idea how much interest this would arouse. Not only the insertion of an elevated green hilltop into the urban scene caused irritation and discussion. The possibility of having a private place in the middle of the traffic was obviously so attractive that many wanted to reserve it for themselves. We made appointments, including through a travel agency. The island was realized in Berlin, 2006, Lier (Belgium) 2007, Fribourg (Switzerland), Vienna 2017.
