The large tracts of land used for grow-ing cereals are being sub-divided and placed upon the marketfor sale to small growers at a very reasonable figure. Amongother commodities grown, the olive is by no means an experi-ment. Fowler has the largest olive oil works in the Countywith a capacity of 15,000 gallons per season. With our largepacking houses located in Fowler, gives a market right at thedoor of the grower. Many varieties of crops, which can beproduced with good profit here, are today overlooked simplyfrom neglect of attention. LATON Mountain Forests, Fresno County The town of Laton is located on the south-ern part of Fresno County. It is in the centerof the Laguna de Tache grant, a large rancho situated alongthe north bank of Kings River, for a distance of nearly 40miles. Laton, the youngest town in the County, has sprungup as an evidence of what has been done in the adjoiningcountry. It is the result of the breaking up and selling of .-44— LofC. a large tract of land. Laton has good general merchandisestores, school and church, public library and reading room,town water works and gas plant. The surrounding countryhas been rapidly settled up with farmers who have come fromall directions. The farms are abundantly watered from KingsRiver, and the locality has become known as wonderfully goodfor Indian corn, alfalfa, potatoes and all kinds of vegetables,fruit trees and vines.
