Found in the Ekklesiasterion of the Temple of Isis in Pompeii. On the central area of the south wall. After the killing of Argos, Io, tormented by a horsefly sent to her by Hera, in her escape through countless places in the Mediterranean, finally arrived in Egypt where, welcomed by Isis in her sanctuary in Canopus on the Delta, she regained her human appearance and generated Epapho (from his union with Zeus), progenitor of the royal bloodlines of Egypt and Argos. The fresco shows the moment when Io, transported from the Nile, is welcomed by a matronly Isis, seated, with a cobra twisted in her left arm and her feet resting on a crocodile, to symbolize her lordship over Egypt. Next to him is the son Harpocrates, and behind him two Isiac figures, a man and a woman, perhaps priestly, who shake the sistris.
