Title
Frenchman's Rock
Description
Frenchman's Rock had been inscribed by explorer Nicolas Baudin after he and his group rested there for three weeks shortly after they had encountered Matthew Flinders in the waters off Victor Harbor, who had advised them of the supplies that could be found there. The inscription says "Expedition de decourverte par le commandant Baudin sur le Geographe 1803", which translates as Expedition of discovery by Captain Baudin in the Geographe 1803. The original Frenchman's Rock can be found at the Kangaroo Island Visitor Centre, with a replica stone resting under a white cement dome at the stone's original location.
