n 1706 et mort en 1790.— Continuez votre description.—Le long du cheminde fer quon voit la et qui est a simple voie, il y a despoteaux telegraphiques. A cote de la gare est une piece deau. Nous y aper-cevons des oiseaux domestiques. Sur le bord, il y ades plantes aquatiques et un coq avec une poule. Leseaux de cet etang se deversent dans une grande ri-viere par un ruisseau. A droite et a gauche de ce ruisseau sont des pres ouTon voit un petit troupeau garde par un berger etson chien. De quoi se compose le troupeau ?—Dedeux vaches, trois moutons et une chevre qui porteune clochette au cou. Snr le bord de la riviere est un pecheur a la ligne,et, derriere lui, se trouve son panier de peche. Le paysage est coupe par une route sur laquellesont une voiture dite tilbury, un tombereau, un cava-lier et un pieton.—Les voitures vont-elles dans lameme direction ?—Non, en sens inverse. Cette routerelie la gare a un petit village, au moyen dun pontenfer construit sur la grande riviere.—

Mary, describe it to me.—Tothe left, in the foreground, there is a small railroaddepot on the roof of which is a lightning-rod.—Whatis a lightning-rod ?—It is an apparatus intended toprotect the buildings from thunderbolts.—Who is theinventor of it ?—Franklin, an American who wasborn in 1706 and died in 1790. Go on with your description.—Along the railroadthat we see there and which is single-tracked, thereare telegraph posts. By the station there is a sheet of water. We per-ceive there fowls. On the bank there are aquaticplants, and a rooster with a hen. The water of thispond flows into a big river through a stream. On the right and left of this stream are meadowswhere a little flock is watched over by a shepherdand his dog.—What is the flock composed of ?—Oftwo cows, three sheep, and a she-goat wearing a littlebell at her neck.
