English: The tender interaction between this Virgin and Child is characteristic of Gothic devotional art, as are their serene, smiling expressions and the graceful drapery folds. Testifying to the fragile nature of ivory, the head of the Child has been restored, and the silver crown of the Virgin replaces a lost one of gold. |
