Description
English: Imaginary Chinese and Japanese motifs ("chinoiseries") figured prominently in rococo decoration for much of the 18th century, as contacts between Europe and the Far East gradually increased. In this box, "chinoiserie" motifs in shell have been inlaid into mother-of-pearl panels.
