Freight train approaching Tuam
Summary
[edit]DescriptionFreight train approaching Tuam - geograph.org.uk - 3120426.jpg |
English: Freight train approaching Tuam A CIE 001 class diesel locomotive hauls an empty coal and oil train towards Tuam station. Running from the Asahi chemical plant outside Ballina to the deep-water port of Foynes near Limerick, this was one of the last regular freight-flows over the line from Claremorris to Athenry. It was later diverted to run via Athlone - Portarlington and ceased when the Asahi factory closed in the 1990s. Claremorris - Athenry closed to all traffic on 11 November 2002. |
