Died: February 20, 1895 An early advocate of women’s rights as well as abolition, Douglass attended the first Women’s Rights Convention in 1848 and published the Declaration of Sentiments in his newspaper, The North Star. Decades later, two of Douglass’ sons served in the Civil War in the famous 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. |
