Summary
[edit]DescriptionFred and Nancy Wagner House; Smithtown, NY.jpg |
English: 1913-built home of Fred and Nancy (nicknamed "Annie") Wagner, as seen from Juniper Avenue in Smithtown, New York. The house was designed by Gustav Stickley in 1912 for Fred Wagner and his wife Nancy, Wagner was a starter for the Vanderbilt Cup Races in the early 1900's and was apparently honored in the Automobile Hall of Fame. The former Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church was built on property belonging to the Wagners in the 1920's and was rededicated as the Resurrection Byzantine Catholic Church in 1967. Today, the church owns the house and wants to use it as a rectory, and meeting place. Originally, I doubted the history of this house when I took the picture.
