DescriptionFred C Palmer Campion King wedding Swindon 1929.jpg |
Portrait photo of Campion-King wedding at Swindon, Wiltshire, England in 1929. From a postcard deposited at Swindon Record Office and scanned and uploaded by them to Flickr. The photographer was Fred C. Palmer of Tower Studio, Herne Bay, Kent ca.1905-1916, and of 6 Cromwell Street, Swindon ca.1920-1936. He is believed to have died 1936-1939. Points of interest: The sailor-groom is from the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle which was serving in the Mediterranean Fleet in 1929. In the previous year his captain and commander had been tried on board ship at Gibraltar for the Royal Oak Mutiny. The ship's name on the other sailor's hat is illegible but it's a longer name ending in "L"; possibly HMS Cornwall which in 1929 was at the China Station. In the background there is either a hayrick or a thatched roof. Border |
