Description
English:
Woman with a kerchief/or shawl(?) by Sándor Nagy /1970 limestone, modern statue/ Educational trail information board is nearby, details: Landscape garden. On the site of the former Lutheran old cemetery established in the 19th century, the initial landscaping was based on the plans of city engineer Ernő Sztraka and head gardener Lipót Lischka (1866-1938). The nature trail of the grove was named after the latter. On holidays, an orchestra entertained walkers from the open Pavilion of the neighbouring Beer House. A gardener's apartment and a greenhouse were built in the grove, where a small zoo operated for a few years. Lipót Lischka was the city's chief gardener for four decades from 1899. Previously, he served as a gardener in manors and in the Buda Castle Garden. He was a member of city, county and national associations. He founded the Békéscsaba City Gardening. The information boards of the educational trail present the parks serving the recreation of the citizens of the city at the beginning of the 20th century, the flora and fauna typical of the Körösvidék, and the charming buildings of the grove. - Széchenyi liget (Széchenyi Grove), Békéscsaba, Békés County, Hungary.

Kendős asszony c. szobor Nagy Sándor alkotása /1970 mészkő, modern/ [1] - 'Lischka Lipót Tanösvény' c. tájékoztató tábla: "Tájképi kert. 19.században létesült egykori evangélikus ó-temető helyén a kezdeti parkosítás Sztraka Ernő városi mérnők és Lischka Lipót (1866-1938) főkertész tervei alapján történt. Utóbbiról nevezték el a liget tanösvényét. Ünnepnapokon a Sörház nyitott Pavilonja felől zenekar szórakoztatta a sétálókat. Kertészlakás és üvegház épült a ligetben, ahol néhány évig állatkert is müködött. Lischka Lipót 1899-től négy évtizeden át volt a város főkertésze. Korábban uradalmakban és a budai várkertben szolgált kertészként. Városi, megyei és országos egyesületek tagja volt. Ő alapította a békéscsabai városi kertészetet. A tanösvény tájékoztató táblái bemutatják a 20. sz elejivárosi polgárság kikapcsolodáasát szolgáló parkokat, a Körösvidékre jellemző növény- és állatvilágot, a liget hangulatos épületeit" - Békés megye, Békéscsaba, Széchenyi liget
