[edit]DescriptionFranklin Hunt - Green Lawn Cemetery (44170516055).jpg |
Grave of Franklin C. Hunt at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, in the United States. His father-in-law, Thomas Woodrow, was born 15 March 1793 in Paisley, Renfewshire, Scotland. He graduated from the University of Scotland (now the University of Glasgow) in 1815, having studied Greek, Latin, ethics, and logic. He graduated with a masters degree from the University of Scotland Theological Academy in 1819. He married Marion Williamson in February 1820 in Carlisle, England, where he was minister of the Independent Congregation. The couple had eight children: William (b. 1820), Robert (b. 1821), Thomas (b. 1821), John (b. 1822), Janet (b. 1826), James (b. 1830), George (b. 1831), Marion (b. 1833), and John (b. 1834). The Woodrows emigrated to the United States and arrived in New York City on January 12, 1836. The family settled in Canada, but Marion died just eight weeks after they arrived in North America. Woodrow moved his family to Ohio in 1838, and to Kentucky about 1840. They moved to Columbus about 1843, and Woodrow married Harriet Love Scott in March 1844. The couple had five more children: Edward (b. 1845), Henry (b. 1847), Caile (b. 1849), Charles (b. 1850), and Mary Ann (b. 1853). Thomas Woodrow died on 25 April 1877 in Columbus. Janet Woodrow (nicknamed Jeanie) married the Rev. Dr. Joseph Ruggles Wilson, a Presbyterian minister, in 1849. Their son was Woodrow Wilson, future President of the United States. |
