Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Francis Henney Smith of Virginia Military Institute, colonel, CSA; general, Virginia militia. He served as VMI's first Superintendent for fifty years, from the Institute's establishment, through the Civil War, and beyond. Note: This is an image that I scanned from an old book several years ago. I have resized it, cropped it, got the color balance correct, cleaned it and labeled it so it would remain known who and what the image is wherever it is taken and used.
