Description
English: Francis "Fanny" Martin the wife of Boatswain William Martin, who along with many of the ships officers, was killed in a mutiny on board HMS Hermione 21 Sept. 1797. With the permission of captain Hugh Pigot she was allowed to accompany her husband on board the Hermione. Mrs Martin later gave important testimony in New York used in the trials of some of the mutineers.
