Description
Deutsch: Francesco Pozzi (1779-1844): vollplastische Marmorgruppe auf ovaler Plinthe mit lateinischer Inschrift, Höhe 1,50 cm, bezeichnet auf Jupiters Gurt: „F Pozzi F. il 1828.“ (Fecit Pozzi Francesco il 1828 = geschaffen von Francesco Pozzi im Jahr 1828), Entstehungsjahr 1828, ursprünglich: Stuttgart, Villa Berg, in der Grotte der Westfassade, 2010: vom Südwestdeutschen Rundfunk in einer Auktion bei Nagel Auktionen für 50.000 € versteigert.


Der Göttervater Jupiter, an dessen Seite sein Wappentier, ein mächtiger Adler mit den göttlichen Blitzen zwischen den Krallen sitzt, gab sich die Gestalt eines wollüstigen Satyrs, mit Bocksfüßen und –hörnern, nackt bis auf die Löwenhaut, die in seinem Schultergurt steckt, um Antiope, die schöne Tochter des Königs Nykteus, im Schlaf zu überfallen und zu verführen. Die üppige, schlaftrunkene Schöne, deren Scham nur dürftig ein Tuch bedeckt, lässt den Arm mit der Panflöte ohnmächtig hinabsinken, den anderen Arm legt sie um den Liebhaber, der sie mit seinen Bocksbeinen umschließt und gestikulierend auf sie einredet.

Inschrift auf der Stirnseite der Plinthe: „Jupiter Antiopen vidit titanida et o si / nupta miiii fuerat jampridem pella quiessent / terrigenum dixit vecops mox foedere pacto // in venerem putret placitoque indulget amori / at dum complexus et basta miscet inermum / irruit hunc titan scopuloque infixit acuto.“ (Lesung einiger Buchstaben unsicher).
