Around: "* RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE *". https://www.lasylve.fr/publications/documents/petitesChroniques27-23.pdf http://www.coppoweb.com/ballons/fr.ball_lst.php?idnb=61 This medal commemorates the flight of the balloon "Le Général Faidherbe" on 13 January 1871 from Gare du Nord to Saint-Avit-de-Soulège, a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. François Van Seymortier (not Seymorties as spelled on this medal), a Belgian national, was the balloonist on this flight. Condition: EXTREMELY FINE, several flan cracks, much lustre. |
