Title: Jussac d'Embleville, Seigneur de Saint-Preuil, François de

François de Jussac, chevalier, seigneur de St-Preuil, né le II août I599. Très brave, il se distingua à la défense de l'île de Ré en I627. C'était un duelliste. A cause de cela, Louis XIII le relègue pendant un an dans une petite place du Quercy. En I636 il remporta de nombreux succès en Artois et en Picardie. Il fut la terreur des Espagnols qui le surnommaient Petit-Jean Teste de fer. Quand on fit le siège d'Arras et que l'armée était cernée, ce fut St-Preuil qui organisa le premier le ravitaillement. Louis XIII lui donna le commandement d'Arras et Richelieu une bague en lui disant:"Si je n'étais le cardinal de Richelieu je voudrais être Saint-Preuil" (août I640).

A cause de rivalités mêlant faits de guerre, exactions (vraies ou fausses) et rivalités, il fut condamné à mort (à avoir la tête tranchée) et exécuté le 9 novembre I64I. Il fut inhumé dans l'église des Feuillants d'Amiens.
