Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Schematic framestone as seen in thin section under the petrographic microscope.

Type of carbonaceous rock according to the depositional texture:

  • Autochthonous limestones - Original components bound during the deposition time.
  • The organisms have built a rigid framework. The rock is supported by the organic framework.

Legend:

  • Dotted background: micritic matrix.
  • Branched forms: bioconstructions (eg biohermal corals).
  • Curved blue particles: bioclasts (indeterminate fossils, eg bivalve fragments).
  • Black spheroids: bioclasts (pellets).
Based on: Dunham (1962), Embry & Klovan (1971) and Lokier & Al Junaibi (2016) (for full references see below)

Leyenda:

  • Con trama de puntos: matriz micrítica.
  • Formas ramificadas: bioconstrucción (p.ej. corales biohermales).
  • Partículas azules curvas: bioclastos (fósiles indeterminados. P.ej. fragmentos de bivalvos).
  • Esferoides negros: bioclastos (pellets).
