Title
Fragment of a Post Medieval, 15th-17th century, ceramic costrel, green glazed, border ware fabric, AD.1400-1650.
Description
English: Fragment of a Post Medieval, 15th-17th century, ceramic costrel, green glazed, border ware fabric, AD.1400-1650. The fragment represents the spout and carry holes of the vessel. The spout is circular and has been applied to the formed vessel body before firing. One surface has been glazed with a patchy, mottled green glaze, the otherside being undecorated except for a few spots of glaze. The lugs upon either side of the spout have been pierced through to allow a cord to be passed through to allow the vessel to be carried. The fabric of the vessel is creamy white and free of inclusions. See Pearce 1992, fig.37 for parallels and Pg.30-32 for a discussion of different types of costrel.
