Fragment of a Bronze Age Palstave Axe
Description
English: Fragment of the butt of a Bronze Age palstave axe. The fragment is a short lengh of the butt with old breaks at both ends and low side wings. There are prominent but smoothed casting seams down both sides. There are small air bubbles in the sides and sections but not enough to explain the break. Palstave axes date from the Middle and first part of the Late Bronze Age. It is 33.7mm long, 25.6mm wide, 13.4mm thick and weighs 43.55 grams.
