Description
English: Fragment of Roman colour coated fine ware pottery, 2nd-4th century, AD.100-350. White fabric with barbotine decoration drawn on to the exterior surface. The pottery has a black outer coating similar to that used in Nene Valley and Rhine Valley pottery industries. The decoration is abstract with swirling lines curving away from a larger body of barbotine slip. The interior surface is undecorated but has regular striations from the wheel turning process.
