DescriptionFrýdek, stadion, demolice 01.jpg |
Frydek-Mistek, Czech Republic October 2013 This stadium was a symbol of the city. I never liked the building. For me it was an ugly monster. Many others were fighting to preserve the stadium as a unique architecture. Big discussion over the years. Never ending story. And now, last Saturday, I was walking around the city with a baby stroller and I was shocked..monster is going down. Finally, I thought for myself. Lots of the folks were watching and photographing this scenery, too. I started to talk to an older man with a camera: Me: So the city council finally made a decision to demolished it. Man: Yes they did. Unfortunately. Me: Well, it is a point to discuss, if it is good or not. He left. I think people are nostalgic about it. No wonder. It was standing there for about 30 years. They were building it for incredible 11 years. It was finished in 1985. They will build new and smaller stadium and a shopping mall on this location.Maybe ugly, maybe not. Maybe unique. Who knows. My earlier picture of the stadium from this spring.
