Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Residues with conserved aromatic property but not amino acid identity. The location of positions in the global alignment with strong aromatic property but not strong conservation of identity are marked by a orange hexagon on the schematic of the CesA protein. Shown in red are the conserved aspartate residues identified as important to catalysis in family 2 processive glycosyltransferases. The black Q marks the location of the QxxRW motif. Shown below this are frequency plots derived from the alignment of all CesA, CslD, and CslF sequences in this region. The amino acid with conserved aromatic property is labeled with an orange hexagon above it. The aspartate identified as important in the D,D,D,QxxRW motif is identified with a red asterisk.
