[edit]
Description
English: On July 17, 2023, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image of the only spot in the United States where the corners of four states come together. Gray lines have been overlain on the image to show the borders of the four states. Starting from northwest and moving clockwise these are Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. The precise spot where the states meet is marked by the Four Corners National Monument Navajo Tribal Park, a remote but important park managed by Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation. Sitting in a rugged and arid region, park visitors are advised to bring plenty of water and that the park is a full 30 miles from the nearest gas station. Drivers heading to the Monument will be treated to a trip through ancient rock layers that were formed during the Age of Reptiles, somewhere between 248 to 65 million years ago.
