Transcript InfoField | Founder's Tower. Magdalen is perhaps the most beautiful of the Oxford college. It was founded in 1546 by William of Waynflete, the first headmaster of Eton. The history and architecture of Magdalen are most interesting, the Founder's Tower and the Cloisters, in these respects, being of special interest. The custom which has existed for 400 years of celebrating the birth of May by singing a Latin hymn from the summit of the tower is still observed. |
