Fouilles archéologiques dans le secteur nord du temple (direction Christian Leblanc) Le "château de millions d'années d'Ousermaâtrê setepenrê qui s'unit à Thèbes-la-Cité dans le domaine d'Amon à l'Occident", c'est ainsi que les anciens Egyptiens avaient désigné le monument que l'on connaît depuis Jean-François Champollion sous le nom de Ramesseum. Le temple couvre avec ses dépendances une superficie de plus de 5 hectares, il a été construit entre le temple d'Aménophis II au nord et celui de Thoutmosis IV au sud.
