THS ACB L:EADS. The next card to demand our attention, becauseled more frequently than any other high cardexcept the King, is the Ace. Having selected thesuit from which you intend to lead, if it containsno King, look for the Ace. If you have the Ace,should you lead it ? On the opposite page you will find all thecombinations of cards from which it is riofht tolead an Ace in plain suits; the exact value ofcards below a ten being indifferent, as before. You will notice that there are not so many ofthem as there were of the King leads, and alsothat none of them contains a King. If any one ofthem did, it would indicate a King lead. Fromthis you infer that t/ie King is never in a haiidfrom zihich Ace is led. Upon examining these combinations we findonly one point of resemblance; they all containat least five cards, with one exception, and inthat exception both the Queen and the Jack arepresent; from which we have this rule:— If your suit does not contain a King, look nextfor the Ace, and
