Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Fosham Garth Farm, Aldbrough, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
The name Fosham is an Anglo-Scandinavian hybrid meaning 'homestead on the ditch' which possibly refers to the nearby Lambwath Stream. A manor at Fosham was recorded in 1304, and the owner John Disney was licensed to have divine service in his house at Fosham in 1397. A manor house with three hearths occupying a moated site in 1672 was rebuilt by George Wright the younger by 1727. The manor house was demolished in the later 19th century when the new Fosham Garth Farm was built close to Black Bush.
