| Description |
English: The dedication plaque at the entrance to the first level of the "Subway Terrace" or "Playground Addition" at the southern tip of Fort Tryon Park, just south of Margaret Corbin Circle at the southeast corner of Fort Washington Avenue and Cabrini Boulevard in Hudson Heights, Manhattan. To the best of my deduction skills, given limited information, the terraces were built along with the adjacent 190th Street subway station in the 1930s, with the second lower level opened in 1935. However, this upper level was opened in 1941 with funding from the Rockefellers.
Edit: The entire terrace area was intended to become apartments in the original park plans, but was donated to the park in 1941. |
