Transcribed from photograph: "Fort Lewis. Libraries. Remount library. Exterior. Front view. 1918. Photo by Boland." The Fort Lewis Library was established by the American Library Association's Library War Service to provide books for soldiers during World War I. Fort Lewis' Remount Station was located three miles southeast of the main camp and served as a base to train horses for military service. The Library included books on horse breeding and training as well as a number of other topics.; A1823; Fort Lewis, WA; General Fort Lewis location provided. This photograph was published in "The Ninety-first, the First at Camp Lewis" by Alice Palmer Henderson in 1918.
