| Description |
English: Fort Gilkicker - Gosport This unimpressive mound is Fort Gilkicker. It houses radar controlling traffic in the Solent. It is about to be redeveloped as housing. The soil is to be reduced so as to show the masonry fort as it was built. The masonry was covered by soil in the 1800's when the increase in the size of guns, carried by ships, meant that it had become vulnerable to naval gunfire. |
