Summary
[edit]DescriptionFort Furggels - The Naked Gun (49949789482).jpg |
Tank turret number three of caliber 105 mm was exposed. The new owner of the fortress removed the camouflage which consisted of a wooden cottage and raised the gun barrel from the resting position. The reason is unknown. The burning sun on the steel dome, causes condensation inside. A problem with which the army had to struggle in earlier years. The camouflage huts were filled with straw for isolation, and there were small air conditioners and heaters in the turrets for temperature compensation. This is one of four such weapons out there. The shaft next to it with an old exhaust from the powerhouse has been covered with earth. The access tunnel is about 30 m below the ground. With 150 steps, it is the shortest ascent to such a tower gun. Gun number four e.g., has 239 steps. Because there is no person in the picture, it appears somewhat smaller than it really is. The dome has a diameter of 3.2 m and a visible height of 1.44 m. The camouflaged gun and an extended description in 2013.
