Summary
[edit]DescriptionFort Furggels - Fresh Air Intake II (50112527081).jpg | This fresh air intake is one of four. It is located near today's Restaurant Älpli at 1198 m ü.M./3930 ft ASL in a copse. It is used for the motors fresh and cooling air in the generator and ventilation center. The ascent leads in a tunnel beside the powerhouse via a staircase with 179 steps to the air control. From there, an observation post could be reached 10 m higher with a ladder. It was demolished in 1989. The ascent still exists but ends up at a concrete ceiling. The two boxes above the air grille are for antenna connections (photos 2 & 3). The hose was used for a time to supply the Restaurant Älpli with water from the fortress. Thereby, the ventilation grille could not be closed completely and was a potential weak point for a break-in to the fortress by insiders. Now the problem seems to be solved and I can mention this now. Switzerland, July 12, 2020. (1/3) |
