| Description |
English: Former railway land at South Hinksey, Oxford, England. South Hinksey was once a significant railway yard, although even by the time this photo was taken in 1981, there were only a few sidings left. In the foreground some people are walking on the abandoned part of the yard, though it was probably not a right of way. In the middle distance, a class 47 loco hauls a Manchester (Piccadilly) to London (Paddington) working - a service that no longer operates post-privatisation. On the horizon are some of the spires of Oxford city centre. |
