Description
English: Former quarry This is the site of a former clunch quarry. Clunch, a soft Cretaceous limestone, easily quarried, and easily worked was the local building stone of southern and eastern Cambridgeshire, it was also burned to make lime. Sometimes known as Totternhoe Stone or Burwell Rock it was dug locally from Roman times until the mid 20th century.
