Summary
[edit]DescriptionFormer mineral line off Bradford Road, Dewsbury - geograph.org.uk - 92637.jpg |
English: Former mineral line off Bradford Road, Dewsbury. This is near to the southern terminus of the line, where there was a weighing machine and coal could be taken away by road, or by rail from the adjoining Batley Carr station. This is the only place where the track has survived. The railway is above the brick retaining wall. Note how the upper part of the wall is supported by a long series of arches, which extend for 150m up to Jack Lane. This would seem a more expensive method than building a solid wall, but there must have been a good reason for it - it certainly looks more attractive. |
