| Description |
English: Former cattle enclosure - eastern wall. This is the eastern wall of a cattle enclosure that lay at the end of a drove road, and which was in use until the late nineteenth century; see 1043828.
In this image, the eastern wall (the shadow cast by the low winter sun makes its edge more visible) runs from the lower left corner towards the centre of the image, where it then curves left, becoming the northern wall. At its southern tip, the eastern wall meets the NE corner of the ruins of a house (see the link above) which dates to a later period than the cattle enclosure. The house lies in the SE corner of the enclosure, and its walls have obliterated that part of the earlier enclosure's walls. Previous: 1101802. |
