Français : Il y a environ cinq millions d'années, le niveau de la mer Méditerranée s'est élevé rapidement. La mer est montée presque jusqu'à Vinça. Elle a laissé des couches marines (deltaïques) de sable et de gravier, représentées par la couche inférieure (de couleur plus claire) des deux couches visibles sur cette image. La couche supérieure, de couleur rouille, est d'origine continentale ("fluviotorrentiel"). Elle contient une variété de gros galets apportés par le "paléo-Têt" depuis les collines et les montagnes de l'intérieur - granit, gneiss, marbre, schiste, quartzite, etc.
Cette combinaison particulière de dépôts marins et continentaux est expliquée plus en détail, avec des illustrations, dans : Elisabeth Le Goff, Marc Calvet, Anne-Marie Moigne, Curiosités Géologiques des Pyrénées-Orientales, Orléans : BRGM Éditions, 2018, ISBN : 978-2-7159-2660-8, site 7, pages 68-9. "Site 7" concerne la carrière de "Bente Farine", Néfiach, où l'on trouve des formations similaires. Ces formations du Pliocène sont très sensibles à l'érosion par ravinement, comme le montre cette image. Ce type d'érosion atteint sa forme la plus spectaculaire dans les Orgues d'Ille-sur-Têt, à 8 kilomètres au nord-est de Vinça. Voir aussi Le Goff et al, site 8, pages 70-71. |
