Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Forest Fence. Descending southwestward from Creag nam Mial. The fence is built to protect the large native pinewood plantings on the Atholl Estate. Some orange netting is attached to the fence, and needs replacing. The reason for the netting is to reduce casualties amongst our two grouse species, Black Grouse(Tetrao tetrix) and Capercaille (Tetrao urogallus) Both are in decline, and flying into fences is one cause. Simply flagging the fences up has been shown to aid recovery of numbers. Other threats are dealt with by other means, the local police take wildlife crime very seriously.
