Description Extravascular embolized crospovidone and a few small fragments of microcrystalline cellulose with a foreign body giant cell reaction. Crospovidone has a coral-like appearance and is an insoluble polymer of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone that is used as a disintegrant in pharmaceutical tablets. It embolizes to the lungs when aqueous suspensions of pulverized tablets are injected intravenously. An asteroid body is present in the cytoplasm of one of the giant cells
