Der Ford Capri ist ein Sportcoupé, das von November 1968 bis Dezember 1986 von Ford Deutschland sowie bis 1976 auch von Ford England hergestellt wurde. Die Bezeichnung Capri war im Ford-Konzern bereits zuvor verwendet worden; einmal beim US-amerikanischen Lincoln Capri der frühen 1950er Jahre und auch von 1962 bis 1964 beim Ford Consul Capri, einer Coupé-Variante des britischen Ford Consul Classic. Der Opel GT ist ein zweisitziges Coupé-Modell, das die Adam Opel AG von Oktober 1968 bis Mitte 1973 103.463-mal baute. Die Karosserie hatte Erhard Schnell entworfen, der von 1952 bis 1992 als Gestalter bei Opel tätig war.
