Description
English: An Afghan and coalition force provides security outside the home of a senior Taliban leader in Nahr-e Saraj District, Helmand province, Afghanistan, April 18, 2013. The senior leader and four other insurgents were detained and charged with a wide range of Taliban activity in southern Afghanistan. The leader controlled a cell of fighters responsible for a number of attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in Helmand and Kandahar provinces. He also oversaw weapons facilitation in the area, trained suicide bombers in operations, is a known improvised explosive device expert, and passed instructions and orders from senior Taliban officials to front-line fighters. The security force also seized two assault rifles, four magazines, and 60 pounds of opium. Afghan soldiers started to increase participation on missions to lead security in their country following the draw-down of coalition forces in Afghanistan. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Richard W.
