Summary
[edit]DescriptionFootbridge on Cycle Route 7 - geograph.org.uk - 1049233.jpg |
English: Footbridge on Cycle Route 7. There are two wooden bridges located here along a short section of Route 7 of the National Cycle Network; this is the southernmost of the pair. The other bridge, located nearby, is shown here: 1049213.
Both of these bridges cross small streams that flow east into the nearby River Leven; however, after prolonged periods of heavy rain, the Leven may overflow its banks, and a much greater quantity of water may flow in the opposite direction; in extreme cases, when combined with an incoming tide, the floodwaters have risen to such an extent that the boards of these footbridges have been entirely submerged. The photo was taken while the route was still open; on the date when this photo was submitted, the section of cycle route between Dalreoch and Dalquhurn had been temporarily closed, for work that was scheduled to run from late October 2008 to late January 2009. When the route re-opened, this bridge had been replaced with a new one: see 1136063, a picture that was taken from the same place, and looking in the same direction (as can be seen by comparing the positions of the trees). |
