English: View of Heimaey city in Iceland. The picture is taken from the city's western border, close from the camping and golf field. On the forefront the football field is partly visible, then the city is filling almost the whole northern plain of the small island. The backdrop is formed by the dramatic slopes of volcanoes Helgafell (right) and dark red Eldfell (left), whose 1973 eruption destroyed part of the city. |
