Description |
Wrath fountain from the workshop of Hans Gieng. The bearded warrior in armor symbolizes the righteous anger, not to be confused with the irascibility that leads to the loss of self-control, but the holy anger of the warrior, which he needs to win. He wears a helmet with a lion's snout. His right hand swings a sword ready for battle. At his feet lies a fierce lion, alluding to the ancient Hercules. Gieng designed this figure after a woodcut by Hans Burgkmair. |
