Description
The smooth shaft, 133 cm high, is decorated with a garland of coins suspended from four fauna masks, from which four pendants also fall; two hourglasses and two skulls from which snakes emerge are suspended from the garland itself. The composite capital, 59 cm high, bears the traditional acanthus and four putti musicians standing on shells; and as the fountain was in the rue des Bouchers (butcher street), a sheep's head occupies the place of one of the finials of the abacus

Object history In 1840, Nicolas Kessler restored the statue and the fountain column. In 1932-1933, the original column and statue were replaced by a copy by François Baud from Geneva. Since then, the original parts have been in the Fribourg Museum of Art and History.
